Whether you are the Payor or Recipient, we ensure financial obligations are calculated accurately, enforced strictly, and varied when life changes.

Why You Need a Child Support Lawyer

Many parents assume Child Support is a simple table calculation. In reality, determining the correct 'Income' for that table is often a complex legal battle. Whether it involves imputing income for self-employed ex-spouses, calculating shared custody 'set-offs,' or enforcing Section 7 expenses, a simple math error can cost you thousands of dollars over the child's life. Tailor Law ensures the numbers are right the first time.

Complete Child Support Representation

Accurate Calculation

We go beyond Line 15000. We analyze tax returns, corporate dividends, and cash income to determine the true Guideline income.

Enforcement & Arrears

We work with the Family Responsibility Office (FRO) and file court motions to collect unpaid support, suspend licenses, and garnish wages.

Variations (Motion to Change)

Income changes. Kids grow up. We file Motions to Change to update old orders, reduce payments after job loss, or terminate support.

Retroactive Claims

If you were underpaid for years, we help you claim retroactive 'back pay' based on the Supreme Court's D.B.S. factors.

Do You Have a Complex Case?

Not all support cases are created equal.

The Simple T4 Case

Both parents are employees. Income is clear on the T4 slip.

OUR ROLE:

Efficiently draft a Separation Agreement to formalize the Table Amount and Section 7 split.

The Complex Case

One parent is Self-Employed, owns a Corporation, or works for cash.

OUR ROLE:

Forensic analysis. We file motions to 'Impute Income,' add back personal expenses, and chase hidden assets to ensure fairness.

How We Secure Your Order

01

Financial Disclosure

We demand full transparency. We exchange sworn Financial Statements (Form 13) and 3 years of tax assessments.

02

The Assessment

We run three scenarios: The 'Low,' 'High,' and 'Likely' support outcomes based on case law, helping you make informed decisions.

03

Negotiation

We attempt to settle via Mediation or Lawyer-Negotiation to save you court fees.

04

Court Action

If the other party is unreasonable, we proceed to court to obtain a binding Interim or Final Order.

Ontario Support FAQs

It depends on your Gross Income and the number of children. For example, in Ontario, an income of $60,000 for 1 child is typically around $558/month, plus special expenses.
Yes. Child support is the right of the child. Parents cannot 'opt-out' or waive it in a contract. Courts will overturn any agreement that pays less than the Guidelines.
If the child is with each parent at least 40% of the time, the full Table Amount might not apply. We calculate a 'Set-Off' amount based on both incomes.
